A higher World Level of Detail configuration would allow for more geometric complexity in meshes (smoothing out object appearance), and would keep this complexity for farther distances than a lower setting would. LOD (Level of Detail) scaling is used in games to gradually increase or decrease mesh quality (among other parameters, as defined by devs) to control performance. World Level of Detail: Adjusts global LOD scaling for world objects. With previous tests, we've seen grass draw distance can massively impact overall framerate (in GTA V), but the performance hit depends on developer implementation. Maxes out on “Ultra,” and is rated for no VRAM impact with minor CPU and GPU impact (assuming the menu is complete). Here are our photos of the graphics options menu: Note that the Gears team has promised “more than 30 graphics settings,” so we'll likely see a few more in the finished product. We've got an early look at Gears of War 4's known graphics settings, elevated framerate, async compute, and dynamic resolution support. The notebook was capable of pushing maxed settings at 1080p and, a few pre-release bugs aside (pre-production hardware and an unfinished game), gameplay ran in excess of 60FPS. We tested Gears of War 4 on the new MSI GT73 notebook with 120Hz display and a GTX 1070 (non-M) GPU. The Coalition may roll-out additional settings by the game's October launch. The Coalition's Gears of War 4 demonstrated the capabilities of nVidia's new GTX 1070-enabled notebooks, operating at 4K with fully maxed-out graphics options.
